I grew up eating my mom home-cooked meals. I remembered how I felt embarrassed at first when I often brought lunch box to school. Most of my friends bought lunch at the canteen at school. When I opened my lunch box, my friends often made comments like “Wow…look at your lunch. So delicious”. I felt kinda proud though to be honest 😉 (geez…teenager!) My mom is a great cook and she packed me 3-tier lunch box. There was always soup, rice/noodle with veggie, and one entree. My mom would actually deliver my lunch box to school during recess. So, it’s always hot and fresh.

But let’s face it, not everyone can deliver her kid’s lunch box to school everyday. Of course, in these modern days, we have gazillion choices when it comes to much more advance lunch boxes and bags than the ones I used, which were not reheatable and did not preserve heat for long. So, I guess that’s why mom delivered to me every day. The folks at Freshy Bag sent me their Freshy Bag insulated lunch bag to try out. When I first looked at the bag, my first thought was “It’s kinda small”. But look can be deceiving sometime. I could actually pack up quite a bit of things in there. I had jar of oatmeal, 3 small containers for fruits, another container for lunch on top. If I were to put my fruits in sandwich bags, I probably could fit in even more things.

At the bottom I had fruits and could easily fit in a bottled water. The insulation on the inside is thick and not flimsy like on some I’ve seen. The fact that the material used to make this insulation lunch bag is made of non-toxic materials makes it even better too.

I wish the front opening is a tad bigger, but that’s probably just me. I like the integrated handle. The overall construction feels very sturdy. The zippers are smooth to zip and large (which I like). I actually like zipper better than velcro fastening. The website said that the insulation can keep food fresh for 4 hours in a tough weather environment. I left the bag with the food inside for about 3 hours and when I opened it after that, the refrigerated oatmeal still feels cold and I didn’t have any ice pack in there. BRAVO!

I’m sure I will spill something in there or something may just leak inside the bag one of these days. So, knowing that this Freshy Bag can be machine washed is sure a relief.

I was about to suggest that perhaps Freshy Bag can come in different colors besides black. Well, I just saw their Facebook page that they will be launching 5 different colors soon. Now..that’s what I’m talking about. I love colors. My daughter is going to full-time kindergarten this coming school year and packing her lunch daily is definitely on my list and I’m also on the look for good insulated lunch bag for her. She saw this Fresh Bag and she said “It’s cool. But I don’t like black”. She is a everything-pink girl, so no other colors really jive with her at the moment. But another suggestion for the folks at Freshy Bag, perhaps you can consider more fun prints for kids line too 😉

They are on sale for $24.55 (from $30) on Amazon at the moment. For $24.55 I feel that the price is pretty competitive for the quality of the bag and it comes with lifetime guarantee. Overall I’m pretty happy with Freshy Bag. This bag will sure get lots of use 😉 Thank you Freshy Bag for sending me one to try out.
