If you are looking for ways to use up that leftover turkey or ham, you gotta try this spaghetti pie. A familiar taste with a fun look. It’s easy to pull together and can be made ahead and baked later.
Spaghetti Pie with Leftover Turkey or Ham

Leftovers are unavoidable when you cook up a feast for holiday celebrations like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love using them to make “brand new” dishes. This spaghetti pie is one of our favorites. The spaghetti “shell” is crispy on the outside. The meat sauce filling on the inside is deliciously savory. The cheese topping just ties everything together. This this looks more complicated than it actually is.

Ingredients

1. Dry spaghetti
You can use any long spaghetti of your choice
2. Butter
I use unsalted butter but you can use salted, just watch out on the seasonings. You may not need as much salt
3. Eggs
The eggs work as a “glue” here. They bind everything together so the spaghetti crust won’t fall apart
4. Grated Parmesan cheese
The cheese adds some savory taste to the pasta
5. Onion and garlic
I use yellow onion
6. Marinara sauce
I use my favorite store-bought marinara sauce for convenience
7. Leftover turkey or ham
Remove the skin and shred the meat of the turkey. If you use ham, dice into small pieces
8. Mozzarella cheese
They are excellent as the topping for the pie. They melt and stretch beautifully. Don’t use reduced-fat version as they don’t melt as nicely and turn dry

How to make spaghetti pie with leftover turkey or ham

1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook to al dente, according to the instruction on the package

2. When they are cooked, do not rinse. Toss with butter, eggs and parmesan cheese to combine

3. I use a 6-inch springform cake pan. You can also use a 9 or 10 inch pie plate. Transfer the spaghetti to the pan and press to the bottom and the side of the pan

4. Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C). Preheat a large pan or skillet. Add oil and saute onion and garlic for about 2 minutes

5. Add the marinara sauce followed by seasonings

6. Add the leftover turkey or ham. Stir to combine. Have a taste and adjust seasonings to your preference

7. Pour the meat sauce into the pan that has been layered with spaghetti and smooth with a spatula. You can prepare ahead up to this point, cover and keep in the fridge and bake the next day if you prefer. Simply remove it from the fridge and let it stand for 30 minutes before baking. Otherwise, bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes if you use a deep pan as I did. If you use a pie plate, 25-30 minutes should be sufficient.

8. Carefully remove from the oven and top with the cheese topping and bake for another 5 minutes until the cheese are bubbly and melted

9. Remove from the oven and let the pie stands for 5 minutes before serving
